What is JEE Main?
JEE Main is an online exam conducted by the National Testing Agency for students looking to pursue a career in engineering; it is an entrance exam to pursue undergraduate courses from top engineering institutes like IIT, NIT, CFIT and other government funded technical institutes. The exam is conducted twice a year i.e. in the month of January and April in two different sessions. Students can choose to opt for one exam or both the exams. In preparation of the merit list, the agency considers the best of two scores.

How to prepare for JEE Main 2020 without proper coaching?
Refer to NCERT books: Go through each and every topic and subtopic in the NCERT books of physics, chemistry and mathematics. Understand the theory well and attempt every question. In case of JEE Mathematics, if you can easily solve NCERT math book miscellaneous exercise can easily score more than 90%.
Refer to only a limited number of books: There are a variety of books in the market that will claim it is a quick way to pass JEE. However, it is important you identify the right books that will help you prepare well. Referring to DC Pandey and HC Verma are good options to prepare for physics, whereas, SK Goyal is an ideal option for preparing for mathematics.
Use two different books-one for theory and one for practice: Ideal way to crack JEE is to refer one book for understanding the concepts and using another to solve them. While studying, you may feel you know everything, however when you read different questions, you would understand the depth of the concept and be able to prepare well. Start with one chapter and the next day try solving at least 25-30 questions related to that chapter. Doing this will help you prepare better.
Manage your time well: Key to cracking this exam is to prepare well for it and this can be done by investing your time effectively. After finding the right study material, it is important you spend time reading and practicing each topic. Here your time management skills play an important role as studying more would help you score better.
Focus on college and be regular: Skipping college lectures to prepare for JEE is not an ideal thing to do. If you are planning to appear for JEE without coaching, then it is imperative that you attend lectures and take notes of it as it can help you prepare better. Secondly, you can always ask your teachers for any help if required.
